Things to do in Dublin; Hunter's Weekend Picks

Warm sun, sandy beaches and vintage shops full of hidden treasures. No we're not hallucinating, one lucky member of team Hunter will be enjoying it all very soon, when she hops on a plane this weekend to LA, but we're not bitter, no we're just shivering with cold but y'know what, it's FRIDAY and there's lots to do around Dublin town too. Loads. So there. We raved about this when we first went to see it, early last year, since then it's been performed at Electric Picnic and enjoyed sell out runs in Tiger Fringe  Fest and Cork Mid Summer (wonder did they translate it into Cork-ugese?). Screen Shot 2016-01-15 at 11.05.36 This is a tale of two estranged brothers who haven’t spoken to each other in three years but over a lost weekend they reconnect and reminisce over tunes, trips, their history and their city. "Dublin Oldschool"  makes a glorious return to it's spiritual home,  Project Arts Centre, Temple Bar, but hurry there's only 3 shows left!   It snaps, crackles, raps and rhymes, with high octane performances by Emmet Kirwan (Sarah & Steve)  Ian Lloyd Anderson (LOVE/HATE) and is directed by Phillip McMahon. http://www.irishtheatre.ie/events/307749/dublin_oldschool   So Oscar nominations were announced yesterday and everyone's asking will this finally be Leo's year? Probably, by all accounts "The Revenant" is a tough watch but utterly enthralling.  It opens in cinemas today and has received 12 Oscar nominations but we're more excited about Lenny Abrahamson's nomination for best director for Room.  We've followed his career closely since  his touching debut "Adam & Paul " and "Room" is top of our Oscar Best Movie, must -see list.  Go Lenny! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6C6fZ-fwDws   As the world still digests the shocking news of David Bowie's untimely death.  Mother Club will be be hosting it's own tribute  for fans and disco dancers this Saturday when they celebrate the legacy of one the most unique, innovative artists the world has ever seen. Nialler9 & Colin Perkins will be providing the tunes.  more info https://www.facebook.com/events/958014057610629/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4d7Wp9kKjA but if none of the above,  tickles your fancy, you could always just , y'know.... catch a flight to Los Angeles.
