Something for the Weekend

Our picks of things to do in Dublin this weekend. Music: The Garden The Garden plus special guests Old Bean Girlfriend play upstairs at Whelan's tonight. Dubbed "visionary and forward thinking," "thrilling and ferociously paced avant-punk" they're one to check out. Perfect Friday fun. Art: The National Gallery of Ireland Eclectic Images: Recent Acquisitions 2011-2016 is a new exhibition of prints and drawings acquired by the National Gallery  of Ireland over the last five years. It's open as we speak and best thing is it's free. Theatre: Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme This is a major new co-production of the iconic war play by Frank McGuinness. It's on at The Abbey and runs until late September. If you're a theatre fan or not this is an amazing play and worth seeing. Some dates are sold out already, so grab your tickets while you can.
