Original Penguin AW16 Collection Launch

Lights, camera, action! Original Penguin, the menswear label worn by Zachary Quinto, Andy Bovine, The Lonely Island and of course our very own John Kavanagh and Andy Lee, launched their latest collection in Dublin’s Denzille Private Cinema last week. The palette comprising of plush reds, brilliant blues, and monochrome graphics looks to the golden age of cinema for inspiration for AW16. Luxurious theatre interiors, 3D spectaculars and vivid tones from the screen all find their way into the latest offerings.

On arrival to the Dublin launch, guests were greeted by the scent of classic cinema popcorn, servings of ice-cream served from a vintage vendor bike and Aungier Danger Donuts. The Earl Polo took over a feature wall at the venue displaying each of the seasonal colours of the staple classic. The AW16 Campaign video was on show in the screening room where the black & white portion of the collection was housed. Texture, tone, and detail were a key feature here with cashmere, houndstooth, and design standing out as the most notable elements. Back in the social area of the cinema, the 3D segment of the collection incorporated prints and patterns suited to the more daring wearer. The short-sleeved white shirt featuring Pete the Penguin, as well as movie-related memorabilia in red and cyan, garnered lots of attention from all in attendance.

TV3 Xposé were on hand to film the key pieces from the collection with leading stylist Courtney Smith giving her take on the label. Guests included boxer Andy Lee, All Tvvins front man Conor Adams and Spin 1038’s Crossy and Cormac Moore. Today FM’s Louise Duffy and former GAA Star turned fashion designer Paul Galvin were there for a first look at AW16 collection, along with Dublin’s top stylists Justine King, Holly White, Clementine MacNeice and Linda Conway. Plus Editor of Entertainment.ie Mike Sheridan and Irish Tatler Man’s Alexander Fitzgerald were keen on the latest collection as well as social influencers Grace Mongey, Chris Gernon, Jake McCabe, Sugar Cubed's Ian O'Keefe and Gerry Gallivan, model January Winters and more.
