June Bank Holiday events

So after a few false starts we are hoping that this June bank holiday weekend signals the true start of summer; both in terms of sun and of activities. Here are five things the Hunters might be doing for the long weekend. Forbidden Fruit Of course Forbidden Fruit gets top billing, we've been listening to Deezer's Forbidden Fruit radio channel all week in preparation. If Chic and Sunshine combine on Sunday it could be one of the moments of the summer. Dublin Kite Festival The inaugural one at that; takes place on North Bull Island this Sunday. The event includes actual competitions, we're not 100% sure how they make kite flying competitive but finding out seems fun. Dublin Port Riverfest There's currach racing on the Liffey AND markets AND a pirate village. What's not to like? Dublin Shakespeare Festival A great way to combine sun and culture in the lovely surroundings of Trinity college (we're kind of banking on sun in this post). Steve Earle Just in case the sun isn't splitting the stones all weekend we've added one indoor event. Though it's on at a time when you'll be indoors (and hopefully sunburnt) anyway.
