Castlepalooza 2015....our best bits!
Well now, what a weekend that was, considering this was the 10th edition of Castlepalooza we always knew it was going to be a bit special! The obligatory Irish summer rain finally stopped on Friday at around 7pm, perfect timing for making an entrance! This year’s event saw the addition of an extra covered area in the form of the Bavaria tent and that’s where our Castlepalooza 2015 adventure begun with some quality techno courtesy of Dublin Dj’ing legend Pat Hyland. Other purveyors of note on the night included Johno, Arman Giorgio and Frank B in the courtyard, which was nicely topped off by Alex Metric in the City Jet tent, (yes the airline). You may have spotted some real life City Jet cabin crew amongst the fancy dress crowd, who knew?? Saturday brought extra bodies, some glorious sunshine and some great live performances from Vann Music, Jape and April Towers among others. The castle ballroom also offered free yoga, head-dress making classes and spoken word sessions, for the less party-hardy! Some great Saturday DJ sets included Nialler9, Sunil Sharpe, Murlo and the Swing Ting Crew who skanked out the Castle until the early hours. Late Nite Tuff Guy and Aeroplane took the roof off the City Jet stage, while Hercules and Love Affair put in a hi-energy headlining performance on the Vodafone main Stage. Sunday brought back the rain but thankfully not for long and it certainly didn’t pee on the parade of King Kong Kompany who made a triumphant return to Tullamore bringing back their special brand of musical madness. Festival newbies; Hare Squared brought some serious good vibes to the Vodafone Main Stage, where Fight Like Apes also delivered a attention grabbing performance with front woman May-Kay engaging in some Olympic level crowd-surfing! Other acts who rocked the castle on Sunday included Fryars, Handsome Paddy, Jenny Green and the legendary Tu-Ki who closed the party on Sunday night. Castlepalooza also serves up some seriously good food options including for the first time this year, a King Crisp Sambo Bar! So if you’re looking for an intimate, friendly festival that‘s big on fun and atmosphere, then Castlepalooza, surely is a must for next year...... until thanks to everyone for making it so special! .
