Things to do in Dublin; Hunter's Weekend Picks!

You’re not going to EP, boo-hoo!! Cheer up Charlie because, although Dublin might be a tad quieter this weekend, it also means you might get served and seated a little quicker too. So, for all you non-picnickers, here's some non-EP related recommendations for this weekend. Enjoy! Screen Shot 2015-09-04 at 10.34.07Music –Lee Fields & the Expressions .  The honey coated voice of Lee Fields initially debuted in the early Seventies during a stint with Kool & the Gang, he then moved into a period of James Brown-influenced funk before taking a break for a couple of decades! He makes a return visit to his Irish home from home, the Sugar Club this Saturday night. There may be many young pretenders on the scene right now trying to emulate his sound but you know this guy has lived the words he’s singing. He’s the real deal.   Screen Shot 2015-09-04 at 10.36.09Movie: Precinct Seven Five They say truth is sometimes stranger than fiction, and it’s a phrase which will constantly ring through your head when watching this true-crime documentary. Mikey Dowd was a cop in crime-riddled Brooklyn back in the 1980’s. Over the course of his career he received the accolade of the dirtiest cop ever, by the New York Post. Not only do we hear of his mis-deeds (told with glee by the man himself) but we also get the first hand tales of the drug-dealers and the cops who ratted him out in the end. If you like fast paced and completely enthralling documentaries, then you’re in for a treat. You may also find yourself,  like I did, casting the characters in your head for the inevitable Hollywood feature film. Now playing in the Screen Cinema.
