Music Thrills and Drink Spills from Castlepalooza
No traffic, no dragging tents for miles, no ques, no getting lost; no contest. This is hands down one of the best little festivals going and coupled with the picturesque setting of Charleville Castle Tullamore, Castlepalooza is even beginning to rival some of the bigger festivals, because what it lacks in size it makes up for in its inherent charm.
With so many Irish and international acts playing across the three days here are some of our highlights... 1. Young Wonder are an interesting two piece from Cork. Cork always produces amazingly fun acts, it did help that Young Wonder front women is a bit theatrical. The rebel’s version of Bjork. The played to a packed out Metro Herald Stage on Friday night.
2. Saturday night’s pinnacle has to be CSS , a full on Mardi Gras style party from the Brazilians. 3. Enemies who played Sunday evening, showcased loads of their new tracks and some oldies, it’s worth keeping an out for more gigs from these guys.
4. The main stage was set Sunday night for ASIWYFA, mainly testosterone fuelled fans were fixed and ready to go, they didn’t disappoint; they came out all guns blazing in fact and the entire front of stage went mental. 5. Frank B delivered an amazing set on Sunday night in the Court Yard, laying out the perfect mixes and vibe for Palooza punters to dance well into the early hours. Along with Manchester native Jon K, who played a seamless set, he blended everything from hip-hop to droned-out 70s disco and everything in between to wrapped up proceedings in style. All in all the festival was a huge success and an absolutely epic party. Everyone there was in great spirits, the food was good, the acts were better and the venue was perfect.
