Deezer Ireland and The Irish Times Announce Media Partnership
Deezer and The Irish Times have today announced a media partnership bringing one of the world’s premier music streaming services to readers, facebook fans and existing subscribers via a free radio channel. The partnership will go live on all platforms this Friday, 9th November 2012.
IrishTimes.com journalist Jim Carroll will curate a free On the Record radio channel for his blog of the same name. It will be accessible in the 160 countries where Deezer is available on the Deezer website and apps from any device, as well as on the Irish Times.com Culture pages, enabling Irish Times readers to enjoy great music while going through culture news they cannot miss.
“I'm always keen to find ways to embellish what On The Record is all about and what we can give our readers when it comes to music. An OTR radio channel is long overdue and it's great to be able to use Deezer to provide this. As readers have come to expect from the blog, they can look forward to a wide selection of new and old music across all genres on the OTR Deezer radio channel,” said Jim Carroll.
Mark Foster, MD of Deezer UK and Ireland said, “Since launching in Ireland last December, Deezer has focused on providing new and relevant content to Irish users – by partnering with The Irish Times and On The Record we are offering our users great content curated by one of the most respected media in Ireland and enabling one of Ireland’s best music blogs to deliver sound along with news and opinion to 160 countries around the world.”
Hugh Linehan, Online Editor of The Irish Times said: “Jim Carroll is the Irish Times's most popular blogger, and launching the On the Record radio channel with Deezer is a fantastic opportunity for us to bring Jim's musical knowledge and enthusiasm to an even wider audience. This is the perfect way for us to kick off what I'm sure will be a fruitful partnership between The Irish Times and Deezer, with more exciting developments planned for the months ahead.”
